All That Glitters... How To Throw A Sparkly Wedding Reception

New Year's Eve parties are happening this weekend, most of them full of shiny golds and silvers, glitter and sequins, confetti and all things sparkly. It's a time to get excited about looking forward to all the possibilities of a brand new year.

Your wedding reception is similar in that it's a time to celebrate your new marriage and looking forward to all of the possibilities of your brand new life together as husband and wife. If you're the type of person that loves all things glitzy, then WhereBridesGo.com has the perfect wedding accessories online to make your reception the brightest and best party of the year!

Wedding reception decorations in metallic colors and shiny glitter can give your party a very exciting and festive feel. It seems to put people in a celebratory type of mood. There are lots of places to tastefully add these accents that will make your wedding reception absolutely incredible.

The table decorations are a great opportunity to use this sparkly theme. Candle holders, drink coasters, table numbers, and even the place card holders look amazing and really stand out. These can be combined with a pop of your favorite color added in here and there, or as a solid background like for the tablecloth. Going with all white or all black can look incredible too. Add in a few sprinkles of confetti and you've get an impressive table.

Don't forget to make the head table extra special. The decorations for where you and your wedding party will sit should match the rest of the room, but with a little bit of something extra. Use glittery glasses for toasting, maybe some large metallic chargers under the plates, and don't miss out on decorating the chairs too.

You can bring your shiny theme to the cake table as well. The wedding cake topper is always an excellent place to get creative, and you can even bring some sparkle to the utensils you will be using to cut and serve dessert.

The favors are a perfect way to send your wedding guests home with a bit of sparkle to keep and remember this amazing celebration by. Just like the card states on our Golden Elegance Bottle Opener Favor, each guest can "Leave a little sparkle wherever you go..." If you decide to use a shiny mini picture frame for place cards, those also double as wonderful favors.

You may want to do something a little more special for your wedding party. Many of our groomsmen and bridesmaid gifts have the additional option of personalizing each gift at no extra cost. You can add their name or a heartfelt message to let them know how thankful you are that they shared in your very special day.

This is just one possibility among many that you will find at WhereBridesGo.com for all or your wedding needs. You will discover a wide variety of styles, colors, themes, and more when you browse through our online wedding accessory store. In addition to everything that you'll need to decorate your reception, we also carry ceremony items and gifts for everyone in your wedding party, including the bride and groom. WhereBridesGo.com should be your first stop for wedding planning, because after all, it is "Where brides go... for what brides love!"

Fun Bridal Shower Games That Everyone Will Love

Did you realize that December happens to be Bingo Month? While most of our thoughts tend to be on the holidays in December, finding out that particularly interesting fact made us start thinking about Bridal Shower Bingo, which led to thoughts of other fun bridal shower games to play. Today we've listed a few different activities to try for this type of party, many of which you can purchase the pieces for at WhereBridesGo.com.

Bridal Shower Bingo
While the general concept remains the same, there are a lot of different versions of bingo cards for bridal showers. One version of "Bridal Bingo" that we carry in our online wedding accessory store has squares that are already filled with phrases you might hear at the shower. Our "Bride To Be Bingo" lets your guests fill in the squares (or circles, in this case) with items they believe the bride will open.

Another way to get a fun bingo game from us is in our "Bridal Shower Game Packet" combination set. It not only has the bingo cards, but also Two Truths & A Lie, Wedding Preparations Word Jumble, and Meet the Real Bride & Groom. All you need for your guests are a few pencils and some great prizes.

Wedding Rehearsal "Bow-quet"
One entertaining tradition at a bridal shower is to collect the bows and ribbons from every gift and make a bouquet for the bride to carry down the aisle at her wedding rehearsal. With the popularity of gift bags that don't normally use bows, you may want to remind the guests to throw some ribbon on the package. Another alternative is to form a few paper flowers from tissue paper found inside the gift bag instead.

WhereBridesGo.com's "Bridal Shower Bouquet of Fun" is another wonderful combination set that not only has a sweet heart-shaped bow holder to make playing this game easy, but it also includes cards for recording all of the gifts plus 2 more games: Breaking the Ice, and What Will She Say.

Put A Ring On it!
Everyone will be wanting to get a good look at that gorgeous engagement ring on the bride-to-be's finger. This game allows each of the guests to wear a ring of their own. The trick is that you will pick a word or phrase that no one is allowed to say, such as "wedding," "bride," "groom," etc... If someone does utter the off-limit words, the person that catches them doing it must surrender their ring. The guest wearing the most rings at the end of the shower is the winner.

Bridal Shower Game Dice
This game from WhereBridesGo.com is a great way for guests to break the ice and get to know each other. A small group could all play together, and a larger shower could have a set of game dice at each table for smaller groups to play with. Simply roll the dice, answer the questions, and get to know each other. This usually ends up causing quite a few laughs, and occasionally a few embarrassing stories even surface.

Toilet Paper Wedding Dress

You'll need an active and creative group of guests for this game. The title pretty much sums up the activity. Everyone will divide into teams, one player on each team is the model, and everyone else is given a roll of toilet paper. Working together, teams must fashion the most beautiful bridal gown before time runs out, or before the dress falls apart! The real bride gets to be the judge for this one.

Guess Who - Bride or Groom?
This cute game is all about the engaged couple. A list of questions are provided, and shower guests must take a guess at who is the answer to each one - the bride or the groom? In our version, you circle a mustache if you guess groom, and a lovely set of lips if you guess bride. It's an excellent way to get to know the couple better.
The main reason for showering a bride with gifts is to celebrate the fact that she is about to marry the person she loves. Playing bridal shower games adds extra excitement and fun for everyone in attendance. You can find most of the games above at WhereBridesGo.com, as well as the best bridal shower decorations and accessories for the rest of your party planning.

How To Throw An Amazing Engagement Party

The time of year between Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day is know as "Engagement Season." Lots of men choose to "pop the question" during the holidays because that's when a lot of friends and family are already gathered together to share in the special moment, and the romance surrounding Valentine's Day is simply irresistible to a romantic soul.

An engagement party is an excellent way to celebrate with all of your family and friends before the task of wedding planning starts. WhereBridesGo.com has some suggestions for throwing an incredible celebration.

Decide Who Will Host
Traditionally, the bride's parents always hosted engagement parties. Today, not many people choose to stick to tradition, so it's perfectly acceptable for anyone that wants to host the party to do so. Other relatives or close friends may want to throw a celebration to officially announce your engagement. Lots of couples even decide to throw their own engagement event. If the bride and groom, as well as each of their families, are from different towns, more than one party may be needed.

Compile a Guest List
You will need to decide whether this is a party for only family and your closest friends, or if you want to open it up to a larger group of people. One thing to keep in mind is that you should only invite guests that will also be invited to the wedding.

WhereBridesGo, online wedding accessory store, wedding planning, engagement party

Pick a Time & Place
If this party will be the big announcement to everyone, then you will want to have it as soon after the proposal as possible. Even if everyone already knows, it's best to throw it fairly soon after getting engaged. That way you can begin focusing all of your attention on wedding planning after the party. As for the venue, that will depend on how formal your party will be and the amount of people you want to invite. Also consider whether you prefer to serve a full dinner or simply hor d'oeuvres.

Decide the Party Style
An engagement party can be a small get-together, a gigantic formal event, or anything in between. If you are having the party in a fancy restaurant, the decorations will need to be a bit more formal. On the other hand, if you choose to have the celebration in a more casual venue or even at home, your party style can be anything you like. Have some fun with it, and make sure that no matter who throws the party, the feel of the event reflects the newly engaged couple.

Take Lots of Photos
You will want to remember every moment of this special celebration before the big day. Hiring a professional photographer will guarantee that you get lots of great photos from the engagement party. If you don't want to go that far, encourage your guests to share their pictures with you. This is a great opportunity to get some wonderful pictures to use on your wedding website.

Get Ready To Toast
This is most definitely the type of party that requires a toast or two. The host will be expected to say a few words about the people they are honoring. The future bride and groom should say something too. If you can work the proposal story into the toast, that will save you from having to tell it over and over to each person individually.

Great Ways To Keep Children At Your Wedding Entertained

If you are planning a wedding that children are invited to, you will want to make special arrangements to keep the little ones entertained so that the adults can enjoy the celebration. There are lots of simple things that can be done to accomplish this, and many of them are even fun for the grown-ups too. WhereBridesGo.com has pulled together a list of ideas for you in today's blog.

Personalized Place Settings
If the kids will be sitting with their parents at the reception, you can add a touch of whimsy to their place settings to make them feel extra special. Make their place mat out of a material that can be drawn on, and provide colored pencils or crayons in a cute container that matches your wedding colors. You can find adorable activity books in our online wedding accessory store, and they even include the crayons and a sheet of stickers.

Kids aren't always patient when it comes to waiting for the food to be served, so it might be a good idea to have a simple snack waiting for them at the table. WhereBridesGo.com has lots of adorable containers that are perfect for that. You could even have a fun cup, complete with a lid and straw to reduce drink spills, that doubles as something useful and a favor for them to take home.

A "Kids Only" Table
If the children are old enough and wouldn't mind sitting away from their parents, you can designate an entire table just for them. It can mimic the regular reception tables, but with a few fun additions like stuffed animals or a bouquet of lollipops instead of flowers as a part of the centerpiece.

Make Room For Fun
Set aside a specific area for the kids to have some fun without any adults getting in their way. A side table can be filled with bubbles, board games, and toys for entertainment. It can be near the dance floor so parents can still keep an eye on them, and if the kids hear a song they can't resist, they are only a skip away from hitting the dance floor with mom and dad. Just make sure that the activity table is not too close to any loud speakers.

If the weather is nice and you have access to an outdoor area, set up a few lawn games. This is a popular activity for grown-ups too, so vary the difficulty levels so that everyone can have a good time. The kids would also love it if you set up a play tent for them to "make-believe" in.

Hire Entertainment
If you want the parents and grandparents to be able to take their minds off of worrying about the little ones, hire a babysitter to keep an eye on the entire bunch. You can put them in charge of an activity area, or make arrangements for a room near the reception for the sitter to entertain all the kids in.

Take it a step further, and hire someone to watch the kids that also has a special skill, like music, magic, or even a funny clown act. If you really want to blow their minds, rent a giant bounce house for the kids to play in. We almost guarantee, though, that a few of the adults will make their way into that too!

Children don't always have the patience or attention span that adults do, but when you plan activities and treats especially for the kids, the parents might actually be ready to head home before the young ones are! You will find things to please kids at your reception at WhereBridesGo.com. There are also lots of adorable flower girl & ring bearer gifts for the children taking part in your wedding too. If the kids are happy, the grown-ups are happy, so everyone at your wedding reception can have an incredible time.

9 Simple Ways To Save Money & Stretch Your Wedding Budget (Part 2)

Last week we gave you the first five of the 9 Simple Ways to Save Money & Stretch Your Wedding Budget, and now it's time for the final four. The following tips for planning a wedding will be very helpful when it comes to choosing details about the reception. WhereBridesGo.com has many affordable wedding accessories online that allow you to throw an amazing celebration without "breaking the bank." These tips will stretch your wedding dollars a bit further.

Use Double-Duty Items
Strive to use things that you buy for the wedding in more than one way. Favors can double as place cards, aisle decorations from the ceremony can be used for centerpieces at the reception, and table numbers can be placed on wine bottles being served at each table. Getting creative with how you use every single item can cut some of your costs in half.

Skimp on the Flowers
Flowers are an item that the bill can rise on quickly. You don't have to skip them completely to save money. Just use other things along with them to fill up space. There are lots of beautiful kinds of greenery that you can use for filler along with a few blooms. Smaller arrangements on each table can be balanced by the addition of candles, photo frames, lanterns, or other props that tie in with the rest of the wedding decor.

Bridesmaids don't need to carry a full, expensive bouquet that they will probably throw away after the reception. A single, long-stemmed flower looks just as wonderful coming down the aisle in their hands. If you find an outdoor venue with lots of its own natural florals, you won't even need to decorate that space at all.

Limit the Food & Drink
Another item that has one of the biggest price tags at a wedding is the food and drinks being served. If you don't have the budget for a full, sit-down dinner, there are other ways to keep your guests satisfied and well-fed. You can plan your reception to take place early in the day. Lunch and cocktail hour menus are much less expensive than dinner. Lots of couples even choose to get married in the morning and host a wedding brunch. Who doesn't love breakfast food?

As for the bar, it is nice to offer your guests something to drink, but there is no rule stating you have to give them unlimited cocktails all evening long. Choosing to serve only 1 or 2 signature cocktails, or just beer and wine, is perfectly acceptable. If you think that your guests will want more options than that, have a cash bar available in addition to the drinks you are hosting.

Fake the Cake
One great trick for making your wedding cake feed lots of people is to have a small one visible for the official cutting, and inexpensive sheet cakes to cut up and serve hidden away in the kitchen. Everyone gets a piece and you didn't have to pay hundreds of dollars for a multi-tiered cake.

Another option is to order a plain cake and add simple embellishments yourself. One of our unique wedding cake toppers and a few flowers is plenty of decoration to make a cake that everyone will rave about. Also, if you don't tell the baker it is for a wedding, the price may be a little lower too.

Visit our online wedding supply store to find affordable options for nearly everything you will need for your ceremony and reception. WhereBridesGo.com always offers wonderful prices, and when you sign up for our newsletter and follow us on social media, you'll be the first to know when we offer special discount codes. The clearance section on our website is always being updated with new unbelievable specials too, so always check there when you shop with us. Happy planning!

9 Simple Ways To Save Money & Stretch Your Wedding Budget (Part 1)

A wedding is a very special occasion that deserves to have a little more money put toward it than your average shindig. Still, no one wants to wake up the day after with a long list of bills to pay and nothing left for the honeymoon or even your day-to-day living. WhereBridesGo.com has a few easy ways for you to cut spending and still plan an amazing wedding. This week features the first five, and we'll continue the list in next week's blog.

Shop Smart
There is no reason to rush out and buy everything you need the second you see it. Start by researching to find what you love, then keep an eye out for sales on those items. As long as they aren't going to sell out and you are planning far enough in advance, you can hold off on buying many wedding accessories until closer to the actual date.

You can sign up for alerts by text or email from many stores to get updates about when they are running sales. Following them on social media is an excellent way to know when the buys are the best too. If you are planning your wedding at least one year out, hit all of the after-holiday sales for decorative items.

WhereBridesGo.com always has some type of code on our website offering special discounts. These change, so visit the site often until you see the deal you have been waiting for! (Remember to leave enough time for your orders to ship!) Also, under the "Ceremony" tab we feature a "Clearance" section where you can take advantage of some unbelievable special prices. Visit that section often too, but if you see something you have to have, order it before its gone!

Find Unused Money
There are most likely quite a few things laying around your house that never ever get used. These items can be turned into cash for your wedding! If you have lots of them, or if you will be consolidating two households into one, consider having a garage sale. Another option is selling on Ebay or one of the many local Facebook selling groups that have formed.

Another great way to find extra money is by using credit cards. This particular tip is only helpful if you pay them off right away and avoid interest charges. As long as you promise to do that, many credit cards will give you cash back for purchases made, or even free mileage that can be used for your honeymoon trip. Buy everything for the wedding with the card, earn the free money, then pay it off with what you already had saved for your wedding budget.

Host A Weekday Wedding
Many venues offer discounted rates if you get married on any day other than Saturday. This may require a bit of extra planning for your guests to be able to attend if they have a Monday-Friday job, but you can throw an awesome celebration for a fraction of the cost for the venue rental. It's definitely worth considering if you want to save some money.

Have It All In One Place
If you can find a venue that allows you to have both the ceremony and reception in the same spot, this will save you from having to pay two separate venue rental fees. If you can find one that allows you to bring in all of your own vendors (cake, catering, etc...) it's usually a lot easier to keep the prices down on those. Do the math though, because some all-inclusive venues have wonderful package deals to take advantage of.

Save on Stationery
Wedding invitations come in all different sizes and often with lots of bulky, extra inserts. If your invites are larger and heavier than a regular card, the postage you have to pay will start rising quickly. Keep this in mind while stationery shopping.

Having a wedding website, which you can find as a free service online, will allow you to skip many of the inserts that are normally found inside a wedding invitation envelope. You can virtually accept RSVPs, give directions to the venue, share hotel information, and much more.

Those tips should get you started on your budget wedding planning, and next week we'll cover a few ways to cut back spending on reception items in Part 2 of 9 Simple Ways To Save Money & Stretch Your Wedding Budget. Don't forget to visit WhereBridesGo.com often to check out the new clearance items and special discount codes. If you'd like to join our mailing list, you can do so from the right-hand column of this blog. See you next week!
